If any of you are David Sedaris fans, you'll appreciate his sister Amy Sedaris' book, "I like You, Hospitality Under The Influence". I recommend this as a gift for yourself or someone else (as long as they have a sense of humor). It has actual helpful tips and recipes but every page is full of humor and anecdotes. For example she talks about not inviting a psychiatrist and a psychologist to the same party, how to get rid of guests that stay too long, and what to do about the "barnacle" party guest who clings on and never lets go. I recommend buying a copy and leaving it on your coffee table. When you've had a long day it'll give you just what you need - either a good idea for dinner or a good laugh.
